Titanium

One of the very popular songs in recent year. This song been covered by so many YouTuber and Reality shows. I’ve listened quite many cover version of this song that I really like. Then I just wonder which one I like most? So here’s my list.

#1Titanium (Cover) by Madilyn Bailey

I’m really torn between this one and the one by Beatrice (#2) but since Beatrice didn’t do the full song, I guess I’ll give it Madilyn. I think for anyone who’s been following YouTube musician they would know Madilyn. I’m no music expert. It’s just base on feeling. Basically her version gave me the most goosebumps, hence it’s my most favorite.  Plus, I’ve always liked her voice.

#2 – Titanium by Beatrice Miller

If you follow XFactor USA this year, you would undoubtedly know who’s Beatrice Miller. I feel her voice seems so suited for this song especially when she went into chorus.

#3Titanium (Cover) by Tiffany Alvord

I like this piano version done by Tiffany. She doesn’t have that powerful voice for this song but I think she kinda make it feel different. In a good way. I enjoy listening to it over and over.

So these are my top 3. There many more good ones out there. Here are some more of the good ones I’ve listen to.

Total Recall (2012)

I love it. Well, I think the story pretty much predictable and sucks. But come on, Colin Farrel, Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale in one movie, who needs story. Seriously, I wasn’t really expecting anything of it. When I saw the trailer with 3 of them inside, all I was expecting to see was cool action stuffs, which I think I did. Not much for Jessica Biel but I thought Kate Beckinsale was so cool. She just has it in her for this kind of role. Beside the casts, I also found myself fascinated by setting of the movie. The city design is amazing and I feel it’s so perfect for this type of movie.

On top of that, the plot also involves one of my favorite movie concept – memory manipulation.  It never fails to provoke my thought to debate this topic. Just think about it, we were to able to manipulate people’s memory to that extend. I would be definitely be as illegal as time travelling.

I think I’m not spoiling anything by saying that the whole show is pretty chasing and shooting. So yeah if you are expecting to see some clever plot line, then you’re in for disappointment. On the other hand, you’ll find your self very satisfied if you just set out to see Colin Farell, Jesicca Biel and Kate Beckinsale in action.

Rat Race (2001)

I think I watched this movie before but I couldn’t really remember it. Somehow, I ended up watching it again. I haven’t had a movie had me laugh so hard in awhile. I think Rat Race is a perfect movie for a relaxing Friday night. Rat Race shows how far different would go for 2 millions dollar, exaggeratedly of course. Or is it?  Oh well there isn’t much to talk about. It’s just regular comedy movie that will definitely help to lighten up your mood. Duh! there’s Mr. Bean!

Looper (2012)

This is probably one of the few movies that I disagree with the average user rating in IMDB. I really don’t feel that it’s worth an 8.0. It’s barely a 7.0 for me. I’m just thinking is it because there are big names starring movie and makes the rating good? Or is it just that this is not my kind of movie. I had that once with Public Enemies. So well it’s not the first time.

As much as I’ve heard, it’s supposed to be a time travelling movie. But after seeing it for myself, I call bullshit on that. I mean practically there was only one time that they did any time travelling scene which is when Bruce Willis, as the older Joe, went back to the past. Hence to put it accurately, the movie contains time travelling concept but not focusing any thing on time travelling. And I mean literally not focusing. They just simply go about using time travelling without any explanation to the logic. If as viewer, you can take it for what it is and not questioning and logic involved, then you would have less problem appreciating the movie by just absorbing the story.

However, if you’re the kind of people like me, it’s a different story. For me, I become distracted and turn my focus and attention to the logic and in turn, direct my anticipation into waiting for the explanation of the logic. So when until the end of the show, and there’s none. That sucks. So then you kinda feel that the movie is ruined. This is the exact same reason why I love the Matrix so much because they’re able to take a novel and relatively unimaginable logic and explains it throughout the movie which allows me to appreciate everything. I’m not saying it supposed to follow law of physics and stuff. But come on, there are so many time travelling movies, cartoons and books over the years. And after watching so many of them, I have more or less developed a so-called standard understanding and expectation for time-travelling. So when you decide to go out of that logic like having “I can only remember and see what you do after you do them.” and the repercussion on the time continuum stuff when he did something like kill himself, I feel the need to have some explanation to be able to appreciate that. There’s also a tiny bit the whole telekinesis part that I can’t seems to appreciate as well.

Anyway, I’m not sure if I’m being too geeky here. So I would simply concede that I was way too distracted about all that said above to really appreciate any story in the movie.

Chomp Chomp Food Center

After so much discussion, last finally, my friends and I got to go to the Singapore most favorite Hawker Center. What do I think about it? Well I don’t really keep track in my memory of all the food center that I have been, neither the food quality there. But personally, I think it’s over-rated. Yes true the BBQ sting ray, the white fried carrot cake, the BBQ chicken wings and the gigantic sugar cane are awesome but the rest aren’t. I’ve tried looking around the net for the famous food and stalls I should order from when I’m at Chomp Chomp and all the sources that I come across also only main recommend the BBQ String Ray and Fried Carrot cake. So if you were to call this most favorite food center because of a few dishes, I’d say a lot of food center can be considered most favorite food center.

Besides the four dishes mentioned, we also ordered Satay and it sucked. We order from 2 different stall 30 each. Both, in my opinion, cannot make it even for Singapore standard. Then we also order this fried dry squid (I guess, from I called it from what it is since my friend was the one who ordered it), black pepper beef, cereal prawn, and fried sambal kang kung. The fried dry squid was bad. It was sugar sweet. Then the black pepper beef was extremely sour. -__- The cereal prawn was okay not bad also not special. The positive point is the prawn was big and meaty. The fried sambal kang kung was the most horrible of all. Instead of tasting sambal and kang kung, I mostly tasted oil.

In conclusion, I like it despite some bad experience with a few dishes, we did had a good time with the others. However, I still think it’s over-rated.

On my last outing with old friends, we went to this place. It’s like a mixture of Decode Cafe and E2Max. It has gaming station, family games, card games and board games. It costs about $17 per pax for a play room for 2 hrs with pop corn and free flow of drinks. I’m not if the popcorn was free flow or not but I think not. They have the open space game stations where it’s just sofa and TV for you to play and also tables for people who go there to play board games. Then you can also rent a private room to play with your friends which we did.

Anyway, it’s a thumbs down from me. I had a bad experience there. The room was kinda too small for 6 of us and the flooring was bad. Then room was stuffy as well. Their equipment looks pretty run down. Well this speaking from a guy with high expectation when it come to gaming and board gaming environment. I mean when you can arrange and find your own play space better than what they provide for free, that’s when you know the place is not up to expectation. I’m not sure if people go there because it’s cheap since I don’t really know the average price for this kinda of thing.
